Trump says Utah man killed in London terrorist attack was a 'great American'

President Trump on Thursday reacted to the news that a Utah man was killed in Wednesday's terrorist attack outside Parliament, saying: "A great American, Kurt Cochran, was killed in the London terror attack."

"My prayers and condolences are with his family and friends," Trump tweeted. Cochran and his wife Melissa — who was injured in the attack — were in Europe to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, according to a family statement issued by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"Our family is heartbroken to learn of the death of our brother- and son-in-law, Kurt W. Cochran, who was a victim of Wednesday's terrorist attack in London. Kurt was a good man and a loving husband to our sister and daughter, Melissa," the family said.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack outside Parliament and on Westminster Bridge. Five people, including the attacker, died in the attack.
